Hyderabad : Yashoda Hospitals, Hitec City, organised its annual patient education and interactive programme, Dialysis Connect 2026, with the participation of 200 dialysis patients. Based on the theme “Empowering through Knowledge Creation,” the programme focused on improving patients’ understanding of dialysis, encouraging active participation in treatment and supporting better quality of life while living with kidney disease.
The sessions covered practical aspects of dialysis care, including adherence to prescribed treatment schedules, personalised dietary and fluid recommendations, regular medication, monitoring blood test results and maintaining vascular access. Patients were also encouraged to attend regular follow-ups with their nephrologists and communicate their concerns openly with their healthcare teams.
Kidney transplantation and organ donation in focus
Kidney transplantation and organ donation were among the key topics discussed. Experts highlighted the importance of timely transplant evaluation for eligible patients, along with awareness of both living-donor and deceased-donor transplantation. The programme also emphasised the need for continued dialysis and comprehensive medical care for patients awaiting transplantation or those who are medically unsuitable for the procedure.
Experts interact with patients
Dr. Satyanarayana, Dr. Damodar Reddy and Dr. Vijay Verma addressed participants and shared practical insights into kidney care. Interactive discussions gave patients an opportunity to raise questions, clarify misconceptions and understand available treatment options.
Dr. Jaswanth Challa highlighted the importance of patient education as an integral part of kidney care, enabling individuals to make informed decisions and manage their health with greater confidence.
Dr. Rajasekar Chakravarthy, Clinical Director and Head of the Department of Nephrology and Transplant Services at Yashoda Hospitals, Hitec City, said, “Dialysis is not just a treatment—it is a journey that requires knowledge, discipline and strong support. Through Dialysis Connect 2026, we want every patient to feel informed, confident and never alone. Regular treatment, timely follow-up, healthy habits and open communication with the care team can make a meaningful difference in quality of life. We also urge suitable patients and families to explore transplant evaluation and support organ donation awareness.”
Alongside the educational sessions, interactive games and recreational activities encouraged participation and helped patients connect with one another. Dr. Rajasekar Chakravarthy delivered the closing remarks.
