Bengal Cultural Association to Celebrate 89th Kalibari Durga Puja with Iconic Mayapur-Inspired Theme Pandal in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad : The Bengal Cultural Association (BCA), Ahmedabad is all set to celebrate the 89th Kalibari Durga Puja from 15th to 21st October 2026 at its new venue on Sindhu Bhavan Road, next to Monte Carlo Oxygen Park, Ahmedabad. The celebration marks 89 years of preserving and promoting Bengali culture, traditions and community spirit in the city.

A major attraction of this year’s celebration will be an iconic pandal inspired by the magnificent architecture of ISKCON Temple, Mayapur. The theme will combine spirituality, architecture, artistic creativity and the festive spirit of Durga Puja, offering devotees and visitors a distinctive cultural experience.

Shri Anal Mukherjee, General Secretary, Bengal Cultural Association, Ahmedabad, said the 89th edition represents an important milestone in the Association’s long-standing journey and reflects its commitment to keeping Bengali traditions alive while creating a celebration that welcomes the wider Ahmedabad community.

Special Artisans from Bengal

Adding to the grandeur of the celebration, special artisans from Bengal will contribute their traditional craftsmanship and artistic expertise to the Puja preparations. Visitors and media representatives will also have an opportunity to witness the making of the Maa Durga idol and understand the traditional craftsmanship involved in bringing the idol to life.

A Celebration of Culture, Art and Community

The 89th Kalibari Durga Puja will go beyond religious observances to create a vibrant cultural experience. A special Crafts Mela will provide artisans and artists with a platform to showcase traditional handicrafts, artwork and creative expressions.

The evening programmes will feature special artists and cultural performances, including music, dance and other artistic presentations. BCA aims to make the festivities accessible to Bengali and non-Bengali families, youngsters, visitors and culture enthusiasts across Ahmedabad. The Association will also spotlight the artists, performers, sponsors, committee members and volunteers working behind the scenes to bring the 89th edition to life.

Over the past 89 years, Kalibari Durga Puja has evolved into an important part of Ahmedabad’s cultural landscape. The celebration has also strengthened the cultural connection between the Bengali and Gujarati communities, creating a shared space for faith, friendship, art and togetherness.
