Ahmedabad: GLS University hosted another inspiring edition of its flagship conversation series, “Decoded with Chandni Kapadia,” featuring renowned singer, doctor, actor, producer and music therapist Dr. Parth Oza, who shared his remarkable journey of music, spirituality, creativity and lifelong learning with students.

Hosted by Dr. Chandni Kapadia, Executive Director, GLS University, the engaging session explored the many dimensions of Dr. Oza’s life beyond his professional accomplishments, offering students valuable insights into passion, perseverance, cultural heritage and personal purpose.

Reflecting on his diverse career spanning medicine, music therapy, singing, acting and production, Dr. Oza shared how every phase of his journey helped him discover new aspects of himself while staying rooted in his values. Growing up in a musical environment, he explained how music became an integral part of his life, inspiring him to pursue his passion while continuously striving to build his own unique identity.

Garba Beyond Performance

One of the most memorable moments of the session centred around Dr. Oza’s deep connection with Garba, a cultural tradition he described as a spiritual experience rather than merely a stage performance. “Garba is the purest form of devotional energy exchange. For me, when I perform Garba on stage, it becomes a form of meditation,” he said. Adding a musical touch to the interaction, Dr. Oza captivated the audience with soulful renditions of some of his popular Garba songs, creating an atmosphere filled with devotion, culture and celebration.

He also reflected on the phenomenal success of his widely loved song “Jogni Jogmaya,” sharing how deeply fulfilling it is for an artist when a creation becomes part of people’s celebrations, memories and emotions.

Music, Spirituality and Healing

The conversation also explored Dr. Oza’s portrayal of Shri Krishna in the musical production “Rajadhiraaj,” an experience he said strengthened his understanding of spirituality, devotion and the deeper purpose of art.

Speaking about his creative project “Kartal,” he highlighted the importance of collaboration and teamwork in transforming artistic ideas into meaningful experiences. Drawing from his medical background, Dr. Oza also shared insights into his work in music therapy at Apollo Hospital, Chennai, where he combines healthcare with music to support emotional well-being and healing. He encouraged students to consciously embrace music as a source of positivity, reflection and emotional balance.

A Message on Character and Growth

Sharing one of the most powerful takeaways of the session, Dr. Oza said: “Everyone has their own abilities, but if you continue becoming a good human being, no competition and nothing else can bring you down. You will remain strong in your own mind and your own self-esteem because you know that you are a good human being.”

When asked to summarise his journey in one sentence, he responded with humility: “Still a long way to go.” He further shared that the guiding advice, “Always display your best game and don’t worry about failure,” continues to inspire him throughout his personal and professional journey.

The session concluded with an interactive discussion between Dr. Oza and students, leaving the audience inspired to embrace creativity, honour cultural traditions, remain curious and pursue their dreams with sincerity and purpose.
