Hyderabad : Yashoda Hospitals, Hitec City, through its Academy for Advanced Pulmonary Education & Research (AAPER), successfully organised the Bronchiectasis Preceptorship Program – Real-Life, Case-Based Interactive Learning, bringing together leading pulmonologists, radiologists, geneticists, physiotherapists and respiratory medicine specialists from across the country.
The one-day academic programme served as a comprehensive platform for clinicians to discuss the latest developments in bronchiectasis diagnosis, radiological phenotyping, precision medicine and multidisciplinary patient management. The event featured distinguished faculty from premier healthcare institutions, including AIIMS Rishikesh, PGIMER Chandigarh, CMC Vellore, NIMS Hyderabad, Apollo Hospitals, and several other centres of excellence.
The scientific sessions focused on key clinical areas such as radiological phenotyping, cystic fibrosis, primary ciliary dyskinesia, allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA), post-tuberculosis bronchiectasis, long-term antibiotic therapy, management of Pseudomonas infections, and the use of mucoactive therapies.
Interactive case-based discussions enabled participants to translate the latest clinical evidence into real-world practice, while expert panel discussions highlighted the importance of identifying the underlying cause of bronchiectasis to facilitate personalised treatment strategies and improve long-term patient outcomes.
A key highlight of the programme was the series of hands-on workshops, where delegates received practical training in airway clearance techniques, airway clearance devices, diagnostic testing for cystic fibrosis and primary ciliary dyskinesia, along with genetic testing and counselling. These skill-based sessions reinforced the significance of a multidisciplinary approach involving pulmonologists, physiotherapists, laboratory specialists and genetic experts in delivering comprehensive respiratory care.
