Ahmedabad: : Marking a historic milestone in the golden jubilee year of the Indian Coast Guard (ICG), the Government of Gujarat has renamed the CHH-4B Circle in Gandhinagar as “Bharatiya Tatrakshak Swarn Jayanti Circle” in recognition of the force’s five decades of dedicated service to the nation.
The newly dedicated circle was inaugurated by Gujarat’s Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi in the presence of Inspector General Tekur Sashi Kumar, senior state government officials, Indian Coast Guard veterans, officers and enrolled personnel. The occasion marked a significant chapter in the enduring partnership between Gujarat and the Indian Coast Guard. Notably, it is the first-ever traffic circle in the country dedicated to the Indian Coast Guard.
Designed as a tribute to the force’s operational excellence and unwavering commitment to maritime security, the “Bharatiya Tatrakshak Swarn Jayanti Circle” showcases key assets and symbols associated with the Indian Coast Guard. The installation prominently features an Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV), representing maritime dominance, coastal protection and deterrence capabilities. It also includes a Dornier aircraft and an Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH), highlighting the Coast Guard’s rapid response, aerial surveillance and maritime reach.
Statues of Indian Coast Guard personnel have been installed to symbolize the force’s vigilance, courage and dedication in safeguarding the nation’s maritime interests. Enhancing the public experience, a digital display wall continuously showcases the Coast Guard’s operations, achievements and contributions to national security.
The landmark serves not only as a tribute to the Indian Coast Guard’s legacy but also as a platform to increase public awareness about the force’s critical role in coastal security, search and rescue operations, environmental protection and humanitarian assistance. The display reassures citizens that the Indian Coast Guard remains vigilant round-the-clock, protecting India’s maritime frontiers 24×7×365.
The inauguration reflects the Government of Gujarat’s commitment to recognizing the invaluable contributions of uniformed services that work tirelessly in safeguarding the nation.
