Ahmedabad : Dr. Priti Adani addressed CHIPS 2026 at Adani University, Ahmedabad, highlighting the importance of semiconductor manufacturing, artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure, research and skilled talent in strengthening India’s technological capabilities.

She emphasised that semiconductor development requires coordinated progress across research, specialised materials, advanced manufacturing and workforce development. She also highlighted the Central Government’s India Semiconductor Mission and semiconductor projects in Dholera and Sanand, Gujarat, as important developments in India’s efforts to expand domestic capabilities.

Dr. Adani also discussed the infrastructure underpinning AI, including computing chips, servers, data centres, reliable power and cooling systems. She noted that technological progress depends on integrating these capabilities rather than pursuing isolated breakthroughs.

Referring to the Adani Group’s investments in digital infrastructure, she cited Group Chairman Gautam Adani’s announced commitment of US$100 billion towards renewable-energy-powered AI infrastructure by 2035. She also mentioned the Group’s collaboration with Google on the AI hub in Visakhapatnam.

Adani University Focuses on Semiconductor Education and Research

Dr. Adani outlined Adani University’s plans to bring education, research and industry closer together through its proposed multidisciplinary global campus in Ahmedabad. The university aims to develop capabilities in semiconductor design, manufacturing and packaging, alongside practical research and innovation.

She also highlighted the importance of executive education, faculty development and specialised programmes for young engineers to address the skills required by the evolving technology sector. She encouraged students to become independent problem-solvers capable of connecting disciplines and developing new approaches to complex challenges.

Call for Stronger Industry-Academia Collaboration

Dr. Adani invited industry leaders to bring practical challenges to university classrooms and laboratories to encourage applied research and long-term partnerships. She also urged faculty members to approach emerging technologies with curiosity, rigour and openness.

Addressing students, she encouraged persistence in tackling difficult problems, noting that meaningful advances often begin with curiosity and a willingness to experiment.

She concluded that technological progress should be measured not only by advances in machines but also by how effectively human intelligence is developed and applied to improve lives.

CHIPS 2026 brought together discussions on semiconductor capabilities, AI infrastructure, research and talent development in the context of India’s technology ambitions.
