Saurashtra : Air Marshal PV Shivanand, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C), South Western Air Command (SWAC), undertook an operational review of Indian Air Force air bases in the Saurashtra sector, assessing the region’s operational preparedness and capabilities.
On his arrival, Air Marshal Shivanand was accorded a ceremonial Guard of Honour. During the visit, the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief undertook a sortie on a Maritime Strike aircraft, reaffirming South Western Air Command’s commitment towards maintaining a robust and effective capability in the maritime domain.
Air Marshal Shivanand reviewed the Air Defence and Air Operations facilities and assessed the operational readiness of the stations. He also interacted with station personnel and emphasised the importance of maintaining 24×7 operational vigilance, the highest standards of professionalism, rigorous training and physical as well as mental resilience.
Highlighting the evolving nature of operational challenges, the AOC-in-C underscored the need for personnel to remain agile, resilient and future-ready while ensuring sustained operational preparedness. The visit reaffirmed the South Western Air Command’s focus on strengthening operational capabilities and maintaining a high state of readiness to effectively safeguard India’s strategic interests across the region.
