Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Chapter of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) successfully organised the ICSI PSU Conference 2026 in Ahmedabad, bringing together professionals and stakeholders from the public sector, government, regulatory bodies and industry.
Held on the theme “Empowering Company Secretaries in the Public Sector Ecosystem through Governance, Strategy & Leadership,” the two-day conference focused on the evolving role of Company Secretaries as strategic advisors and governance professionals in Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs).
Shri Kranti Kumar, Deputy Director, Department of Public Enterprises, Ministry of Finance, Government of India, attended the conference as the Chief Guest. Congratulating ICSI for organising the conference, he said, “Company Secretaries employed in Public Sector Undertakings are playing a very critical role in public service.”
The conference featured detailed deliberations on several important aspects of PSU governance, including appointment of directors in CPSEs, DPE scheduling and classification, strengthening of Boards, compliance under the Companies Act, 2013, SEBI (LODR) Regulations, and the evolving role of Company Secretaries and Practising Company Secretaries in the public sector ecosystem.
Speaking at the conference, CS Pawan G Chandak, President, ICSI, said, “Ensuring compliance in PSUs is a complex and demanding responsibility that Company Secretaries navigate with diligence and expertise.” He further noted that with the global corporate landscape continuing to evolve, the role of Company Secretaries would gain greater strategic significance.
The conference brought together senior professionals and representatives from the government, regulatory and corporate sectors, providing a platform for knowledge exchange and discussion on strengthening governance standards and board effectiveness across PSUs.
The event was attended by CS Rajesh Tarpara, Programme Director & Council Member, ICSI; CS Abhishek Chhajed, Secretary, WIRC of ICSI; CS Mehul Rajput, Regional Council Member, WIRC of ICSI; CS Jaymeen Trivedi, Chairman, Ahmedabad Chapter; and CS Parshwa Shah, Secretary, Ahmedabad Chapter of WIRC of ICSI, among other dignitaries and professionals.
The successful conclusion of the ICSI PSU Conference 2026 reinforced the growing importance of Company Secretaries in driving effective governance, regulatory compliance and strategic decision-making across India’s public sector ecosystem.
