Ahmedabad, June 7, 2026: Gujarat’s pride and former Miss Gujarat Super Model winner Heena Rajgor emerged as one of the standout performers on the penultimate day of the inaugural World Yogasana Championship 2026, leading India’s remarkable gold medal surge at the EKA Arena in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
With an exceptional performance in the Forward Bend – Senior B Female category, Rajgor secured the gold medal with a score of 43.50 points, further strengthening India’s dominance at the top of the medals table. At the time of reporting, India had amassed an impressive 50 medals, including 40 gold, 8 silver, and 2 bronze medals.
Representing Gujarat on home soil, Rajgor outperformed competitors from across the globe, with Preeti Jaimani (Oman) claiming silver and Svetlana Lukashova (Russia) and Maya Al Alostath (Jordan) sharing bronze honours. “It is always special to win a gold medal on my home turf. When I took up Yogasana competitively after Covid, I had struggled to perform in competitions. But then I worked on my mental focus and the results are definitely coming,” said Rajgor, who hails from Bhuj and is currently pursuing a PhD in Yoga alongside a successful modelling career.
India continued its commanding performance across multiple disciplines, collecting gold medals in Artistic Single, Supine Individual, Traditional Yogasana, and other categories. The championship also witnessed strong performances from Japan, Russia, and Uzbekistan, with Japan adding two gold medals to its tally to secure second place overall.
The inaugural World Yogasana Championship 2026 marks a historic milestone in the evolution of Yogasana as a globally competitive sporting discipline. The championship is supported by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Ministry of Ayush, Sports Authority of India (SAI), Sports Authority of Gujarat, Gujarat Tourism, and the Gujarat Yogasana Sports Association. The event aims to elevate Yogasana on the global stage and strengthen its pathway towards future Olympic recognition.
Among other notable gold medal winners on the day were Hisashi Watanabe (Japan) in Supine Individual Senior B Male, Tomoka Shimizu (Japan) in Leg Balance Individual Senior C Female, Svetlana Lukashova (Russia) in Supine Individual Senior B Female, and Kamolatdin Rakhmanov (Uzbekistan) in Leg Balance Individual Senior C Male.
As the championship heads into its final day, India remains firmly in control of the medals tally, showcasing its excellence in a sport deeply rooted in the country’s cultural heritage while inspiring a new generation of Yogasana athletes worldwide.
