Mumbai : upGrad School of Technology has announced scholarships of up to 100% for students enrolling in its four-year B.Tech Computer Science programmes offered by partner universities and supported by upGrad School of Technology, effective for the upcoming uGNET admission cycle beginning May 10, 2026.
The initiative comes at a time when Artificial Intelligence, automation, and emerging technologies are rapidly transforming industries worldwide, creating a widening gap between conventional engineering education and evolving industry requirements. While the technology landscape continues to evolve at pace, many students graduate without the practical and future-ready skills required by employers.
upGrad School of Technology was established to support partner universities by enabling access to industry-aligned learning frameworks and learner support services designed to complement university-led academic delivery. The programmes are structured to combine academic excellence with hands-on learning, real-world industry exposure, and evolving technology trends to better prepare students for modern tech careers.
The scholarship programme has been designed to reward academic excellence, encourage diversity, and support students with financial needs. Scholarship categories include:
- Merit-Based Scholarship: Awarded based on uGNET scores, academic performance, and relevant competitive exam results.
- Ronnie Screwvala Scholarship: Offered to select candidates demonstrating outstanding performance in hackathons and extracurricular achievements, subject to defined criteria.
- ‘Girl in Tech’ Initiative: Eligible female candidates may receive an additional scholarship benefit of up to 5%, subject to applicable criteria.
- Need-Based Support: Available for eligible students from families with an annual income of ₹6 lakhs or below, subject to verification and criteria.
Scholarships will be awarded based on defined eligibility and merit criteria. Among eligible candidates, allocation may also follow a first-come-first-served basis until the scholarship pool is exhausted. Each category will be evaluated independently, and scholarship benefits may not be cumulative. Eligible students may receive scholarships of up to 100%, depending on criteria fulfilment and availability.
Commenting on the announcement, Vishwa Mohan said, “The future of engineering education lies in relevance and adaptability. Students today increasingly seek programmes that keep pace with evolving industry needs. Through upGrad School of Technology, we are working with partner universities to support undergraduate programmes designed to align with technological advancements and support learners in developing skills relevant for future careers. Our scholarship initiative is an important step towards improving access to such opportunities for deserving students across the country.”
Admissions will be conducted through the uGNET selection process, which includes an entrance examination followed by a personal interview. Applications for the current cycle are now open. For programme details and scholarship eligibility, visit upGrad School of Technology.
