Gandhinagar : Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) commemorated five years of dedicated service to the nation with its landmark Fifth Convocation Ceremony held at its Lavad campus. The ceremony was graced by the Hon’ble President of India, Droupadi Murmu, as the Chief Guest.

On this significant occasion, Ajit Kumar Doval, National Security Advisor, was conferred the Honorary Doctorate (Honoris Causa) in recognition of his exceptional and sustained contributions to India’s national security. The event was also attended by distinguished dignitaries including Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Bhupendra Patel, and Acharya Devvrat, along with senior officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Defence, armed forces personnel, and representatives from academia, industry, and the diplomatic community.

Marking its fifth anniversary, RRU highlighted its steady institutional growth and national impact in the field of security education. Over the years, the University has expanded its presence across multiple states including Arunachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Jammu & Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, and Ladakh—each addressing region-specific security challenges and strengthening India’s decentralized security framework. During the convocation, a total of 563 degrees and diplomas were conferred across various disciplines such as internal security, policing, defence and strategic studies, cybersecurity, forensics, border management, and international security.

In her address, President Murmu described RRU as a unique institution embodying India’s integrated civil-military academic approach. She emphasized the evolving nature of national security—spanning cyber domains, defence technology, and data systems—and urged graduates to uphold discipline, ethical clarity, and commitment to public service.

Recalling the vision of Narendra Modi, who termed RRU “a jewel of the country,” the President highlighted India’s progress in defence transformation, indigenous manufacturing, and digital policing as indicators of strategic maturity and knowledge-driven growth.

As of March 31, 2026, RRU and its affiliated institutions have collectively awarded over 36,000 diplomas, postgraduate diplomas, certificates, and degrees to personnel across various national security organizations, further reinforcing its role as a premier institution in capacity building.

Reaffirming its commitment to the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047, Rashtriya Raksha University continues to integrate education, research, training, and innovation to nurture future-ready leaders dedicated to national service. The Fifth Convocation stands as a testament to India’s resolve to strengthen its internal and external security through knowledge, professionalism, and ethical leadership.
