Vayushakti 2026: Indian Air Force Demonstrates Precision Strike Power, Rafale Dominance, Akash Missile Shield and Combat Rescue Excellence

Jaisalmer:  In the run-up to Vayushakti–2026 scheduled on February 27 at the Pokhran Air-to-Ground Range, the Indian Air Force (IAF) conducted an extensive operational rehearsal, demonstrating its cutting-edge combat capabilities, rapid response readiness and technological superiority. The exercise highlighted the IAF’s growing strength as a decisive force in safeguarding India’s airspace and national security.

Air Superiority and Precision Strike Power

Frontline fighter aircraft including Rafale, Su-30MKI and Mirage-2000 executed high-precision strike missions using advanced precision-guided munitions, showcasing the IAF’s deep-strike and multi-role combat capability. The Akash Surface-to-Air Missile System successfully intercepted simulated aerial threats, reaffirming India’s strong and reliable air defence shield. Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) platforms provided real-time surveillance, command and control, enabling seamless network-centric warfare operations.

Drone Swarm Display – Operation Sindoor

A spectacular drone swarm presentation recreated Operation Sindoor and key moments from India’s military history, symbolizing technological advancement, strategic innovation and the IAF’s commitment to future-ready warfare capabilities.

Tactical Airlift and Rapid Deployment – C-295

The indigenously manufactured C-295 transport aircraft demonstrated tactical airlift excellence by performing a successful assault landing on a temporary pop-up runway, followed by rapid take-off within minutes. This capability highlights the IAF’s strength in forward area operations, quick troop mobilization, logistics support and humanitarian relief missions in challenging terrains.

Combat Search and Rescue (CSAR) and Humanitarian Operations

The exercise also showcased the IAF’s life-saving capabilities through a high-intensity Combat Search and Rescue mission.

  • Mi-17 V5 and ALH Dhruv helicopters carried out rapid insertion and extraction operations.

  • Elite Garud Commandos secured the rescue zone and executed tactical retrieval of a stranded pilot in simulated hostile territory.

  • MEDEVAC operations ensured swift aerial evacuation and emergency medical response.

These operations demonstrated the IAF’s commitment not only to combat excellence but also to humanitarian assistance, disaster relief and saving lives under extreme conditions.

Leadership Presence and National Recognition

The main event on February 27 will be attended by the Hon’ble President of India Smt. Droupadi Murmu and Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh, who will witness and honour the Indian Air Force for its professionalism, operational excellence and unwavering dedication to national security.
