Riyadh, Saudi Arabia: The Embassy of India in Riyadh marked the 77th Republic Day of India with a vibrant and heartfelt celebration, bringing together nearly 500 members of the Indian community, including Pravasi Bharatiya Samman awardees, Embassy officials, and members of the media in Saudi Arabia.
The programme began with Ambassador of India to Saudi Arabia, Dr. Suhel Ajaz Khan, unfurling the national tricolour, followed by the National Anthem and floral tributes at the bust of Mahatma Gandhi. On the occasion, the Ambassador read out the Hon’ble President of India’s message to the Nation and to Indians living abroad.
Adding colour and emotion to the celebration, school children and members of the Indian diaspora presented a range of cultural performances. Classical and contemporary dance forms, along with patriotic songs, reflected India’s unity in diversity and filled the venue with national pride. A special segment of the programme paid tribute to the 150th anniversary of India’s National Song, Vande Mataram. A themed photo booth highlighting the significance of the national song drew attention and engagement from attendees. The event concluded with Ambassador Dr. Suhel Ajaz Khan interacting with members of the Indian diaspora and local journalists, underscoring the strong connection between India and its overseas community in the Kingdom.
