Kandla : Deendayal Port Authority (DPA), Kandla has achieved a landmark milestone by becoming the fastest Major Port in India to handle 100 Million Tons of cargo in the current financial year 2025–26. Reaching this benchmark significantly earlier than previous fiscal timelines reflects the Port’s exceptional operational efficiency, enhanced cargo-handling capability, and strong coordination among port users and stakeholders.

This achievement reaffirms DPA Kandla’s position at the forefront of India’s maritime sector and further strengthens its reputation as the country’s most reliable gateway for EXIM trade. The milestone highlights the Port’s increasing capability across liquid, dry bulk, break-bulk and container cargo segments, contributing directly to national logistics efficiency and trade competitiveness.

The accomplishment aligns with the Government of India’s ambitions under the Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision and supports the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision for a Viksit Bharat 2047. DPA Kandla’s sustained performance continues to play a pivotal role in strengthening India’s maritime infrastructure, boosting ease of doing business, and supporting trade ecosystems across Gujarat and the northern hinterland.

Operational Excellence Across Departments

The early achievement of the 100 MMT mark has been enabled by exemplary performance across DPA’s operational divisions.

  • The Marine Department ensured safe and efficient vessel movement round the clock.

  • The Traffic Department streamlined cargo flow, planning and coordination.

  • The Mechanical and Civil Departments supported continuous infrastructure and equipment availability.

  • Teams across CISF Unit DPA, Finance, General Administration and other wings contributed to seamless port operations.

Upgraded cargo evacuation systems, strengthened connectivity to the hinterland, modernised storage yards, and expanded digital facilitation infrastructure have collectively enhanced throughput and operational reliability. This achievement is also a tribute to the relentless efforts of port workers (Shramiks), officers, marine pilots, stevedores, shipping lines, CHAs, importers, exporters, customs authorities and all trade partners who contribute to the Port’s 24×7 functioning.

Congratulating the DPA community, Shri Sushil Kumar Singh, IRSME, Chairman, DPA, said: “Crossing 100 Million Tons in record time is a proud moment for DPA Kandla and for India’s maritime fraternity. This milestone reflects the dedication and teamwork of our Shramik brothers and sisters, officers, employees, marine crew, port users and trade partners. DPA Kandla is fully aligned with the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of positioning India’s maritime sector as a global leader under Viksit Bharat 2047. We continue to set new operational benchmarks while advancing India’s green maritime transformation through Green Hydrogen and renewable energy initiatives.”

With major capacity augmentation projects underway—including infrastructure expansion, digitalisation of services and green energy integration—DPA Kandla is firmly positioned to achieve new milestones and reinforce India’s leadership in global maritime trade.
