Ahmedabad: The highly acclaimed Water Festival by Crraft Of Art’ transformed the stunning Adalaj ni Vav into a mesmerizing showcase of music and culture. The evening attracted an enthusiastic crowd, solidifying the festival’s reputation as one of the city’s most eagerly awaited cultural events.
Set against the breathtaking backdrop of the 15th-century stepwell, the Water Festival showcased an extraordinary lineup featuring some of India’s most talented artists. The captivating tabla performance by Ustad Fazal Qureshi, Ambi Subramaniam’s mesmerizing violin, and Stephen Devassy’s enchanting keyboard skills captivated the audience. Additionally, Mir Mukhtiyar Ali’s moving rendition of Kabir Vani resonated beautifully throughout the venue. The spellbinding performances continued with Giridhar Udupa on ghatam, Arun Kumar on drums, Navin Sharma on dholak, Prithvi Samuel on bass, and Ilyas Khan on sarangi, leaving the crowd utterly entranced.
A captivating performance by the Kathakali School from Kerala showcased a vibrant blend of classical dance traditions and expressive storytelling. The evening was elegantly hosted by the renowned actor and presenter, Suchitra Pillai.
As always, the festival’s lighting design was crucial in bringing Adalaj ni Vav to life. The intricate interplay of light and shadow accentuated the monument’s carvings and architectural splendor, allowing the audience to experience the stepwell from a fresh perspective. Continuing its mission to enhance the connection between people and heritage throughout India, the legacy of Crraft Of Art will extend beyond Gujarat to the Golconda Fort Festival in Hyderabad on December 12.
Founded by Birwa Qureshi, a Bharatanatyam and folk dancer, Crraft of Art has dedicated more than fifteen years to bridging the gap between audiences, especially younger generations, and India’s historic monuments. Through immersive experiences, the organization showcases the beauty of these remarkable structures.
