Changa : Students of CHARUSAT University have brought national recognition to the institution by securing a place among the top 2% finalists at the prestigious India AI Summit 2026. Organized by the Government of India, the India AI Summit 2026 serves as one of the country’s premier platforms promoting innovation, research, and real-world applications of Artificial Intelligence. The summit brings together policymakers, industry leaders, academicians, and emerging innovators from across India to showcase AI-driven solutions addressing critical societal and technological challenges.
As part of the summit, the HCL GUVI India AI Impact Buildathon 2026 witnessed overwhelming participation, with over 15,000 teams and more than 40,000 participants competing nationwide in the preliminary round. From this massive pool, only 200 teams comprising 850 participants were shortlisted for the grand finale held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
Among the national finalists were three students — Anshu Trivedi, Hriday Patel, and Jugal Lachhwani — from the AI & ML Department of Chandubhai S. Patel Institute of Technology (CSPIT), CHARUSAT University, Changa. Their achievement places them in the top 2% of participants at the national level.
The team developed an innovative cybersecurity solution designed to counter digital financial fraud through a unique “scam the scammers” approach. Their real-time AI-powered spam detection system integrates an intelligent honeypot mechanism capable of engaging suspected fraudsters in automated conversations. Through controlled interactions, the system can extract crucial scam-related data such as UPI IDs, bank account numbers, and other digital payment identifiers used in fraudulent activities. The solution aims to assist in identifying and tracking cybercriminals while enhancing digital financial security frameworks.
The competition was judged by a distinguished panel comprising Shri Abhishek Singh (CEO, IndiaAI), Shri Debasish Mishra (Chief General Manager, SBI), Dr. Buddha Chandrashekhar (Chief Coordinating Officer, AICTE), Mr. Ankit Kakkar (Senior Director, MongoDB), Mr. Neeraj Walia, and other prominent leaders from government and industry.
Congratulating the students on their national-level achievement, President Shri Surendra Patel, Dr. Atul Patel (Provost), Dr. Binit Patel (Registrar), Dr. Vijay Chaudhary (Dean, FTE), Dr. Trushit Upadhyaya (Principal, CSPIT), Dr. Nirav Bhatt (HoD, AI & ML Department), and mentor Dr. Jalpesh Vasa expressed pride in their accomplishment and wished them continued success in future innovations. The achievement underscores CHARUSAT University’s growing footprint in cutting-edge research and innovation in Artificial Intelligence and cybersecurity.
