National : Indian science-led skincare brand Deconstruct has announced a strategic formulation upgrade to its bestselling Gel Sunscreen, becoming one of the first domestic brands to incorporate four new-generation, highly photostable UV filters in its core sun-care portfolio.
The upgraded sunscreen is now formulated with Tinosorb S, Tinosorb M, Uvinul A Plus, and Uvinul T 150 — advanced UV filters globally recognised for their superior photostability and broad-spectrum UVA and UVB protection. These next-generation filters are engineered to maintain stability under prolonged UV exposure, addressing a key performance gap associated with several older sunscreen technologies.
Photostability is increasingly emerging as a differentiating factor in sunscreen efficacy. When UV filters degrade upon sun exposure, protective performance may decline despite labelled SPF values. By transitioning to modern, globally benchmarked filters, Deconstruct aims to deliver longer-lasting protection tailored to India’s high-UV index and humid climate conditions.
The upgrade reflects a broader shift in the Indian skincare market toward performance-driven formulations that move beyond marketing-led SPF claims to measurable durability and stability standards, comparable to EU benchmarks.
While strengthening the scientific backbone of the formulation, the company has retained the product’s signature lightweight gel texture — a key factor behind its strong consumer adoption among oily and acne-prone skin segments.
The upgraded Gel Sunscreen continues to offer:
-
Broad-spectrum UVA and UVB protection
-
Lightweight, fast-absorbing gel format
-
Non-greasy, non-sticky finish
-
No white cast
-
Suitability for humid climates and daily reapplication
This balance of advanced filtration technology with consumer-preferred sensorial experience underscores Deconstruct’s product development philosophy.
Commenting on the development, Malini Adapureddy, Founder & CEO, Deconstruct, said: “Indian climatic conditions demand sunscreens that remain stable and effective under prolonged exposure. With this upgrade, we have strengthened the scientific framework of our sunscreen by incorporating globally recognised photostable filters, while preserving the lightweight gel experience consumers rely on for daily use.”
The reformulation marks a calculated portfolio enhancement for Deconstruct as the Indian skincare market becomes increasingly ingredient-aware and science-driven. As consumers seek transparency, efficacy, and dermatologist-aligned formulations, brands are under growing pressure to elevate ingredient quality and long-term performance standards.
By integrating new-generation UV filters, Deconstruct positions itself within a more premium, technology-forward sunscreen segment, signalling maturation in India’s D2C skincare ecosystem and reinforcing its commitment to evidence-backed innovation.
