Ahmedabad : MarkPatent hosted its 19th Annual International Conclave on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) titled “Innovation without Borders: IP, AI & Global Governance” at Renaissance Ahmedabad Hotel, bringing together senior IP professionals, corporate leaders, policy experts, academicians, technology specialists, and emerging legal practitioners from across India.

The conclave focused on the growing business and regulatory significance of Intellectual Property, Artificial Intelligence, and cross-border governance frameworks in driving innovation, protecting competitive advantage, and enabling sustainable economic growth. Discussions centered on how evolving IP regimes and AI-driven technologies are reshaping corporate strategy, technology commercialization, and global market competition.

A key highlight of the conclave was the Third Technical Session featuring a Live Mock Trial, designed to simulate real-world commercial IP litigation. The session examined complex issues relating to design infringement and passing off in trade dress and product configuration, areas increasingly relevant in brand protection and product differentiation across competitive markets.

Advocate Avadhoot Sumant, appearing for the Plaintiff, presented structured arguments on statutory protection under design law and the commercial distinctiveness of trade dress. Representing the Defendant, Mr. Shahvata Shukla advanced strategic counter-submissions focusing on functionality, originality, and limits of design protection in competitive industries. The session effectively demonstrated litigation strategy, risk evaluation, and dispute-resolution dynamics in commercial IP conflicts.

Delivering judicial perspectives, Hon’ble Justice Mr. A.C. Rao (Former Judge, Gujarat High Court) provided expert insights into contemporary challenges in design enforcement, trade dress protection, and evolving jurisprudence, particularly in the context of technological advancement and globalized markets. His observations offered valuable guidance for both legal practitioners and industry stakeholders.

The Mock Trial emerged as a highly impactful knowledge segment, equipping participants with practical exposure to IP enforcement strategy, litigation risk management, and judicial reasoning — critical competencies in today’s innovation-driven business environment.

MarkPatent reaffirmed its commitment to fostering dialogue between law, technology, and industry, emphasizing that strong intellectual property frameworks are essential for encouraging innovation, safeguarding investments, and strengthening global competitiveness. The organization highlighted the importance of continuous professional development and policy awareness in navigating the rapidly evolving IP and AI landscape.

The conclave concluded successfully, serving as a significant platform for knowledge exchange, professional networking, and strategic discussion on the future of intellectual property, artificial intelligence, and global regulatory governance in the modern innovation economy.
