Tata International, Mercuria Announce Joint Venture to Expand Global Commodities Trading Platform

Mumbai : Tata International Limited has announced the formation of a strategic joint venture with Mercuria Energy Group, one of the world’s largest integrated energy and commodities trading companies, aimed at scaling its global trading and supply chain solutions across a diversified commodities portfolio. The joint venture will become operational upon receipt of necessary regulatory approvals.

The partnership will combine Tata International’s established global footprint, trusted relationships, and decades-long operating legacy with Mercuria’s advanced trading platforms, technology-driven risk management capabilities, and deep expertise across global commodity markets. The new entity aims to deliver reliable, high-quality trading and integrated supply chain solutions, enhancing value creation for customers and stakeholders worldwide.

The venture will facilitate international trade across a broad basket of commodities, including energy, metals, agricultural products, oil and gas, and environmental products. Leveraging complementary strengths in products and geographies, the platform is expected to significantly expand Mercuria’s trading presence in India while strengthening the joint venture’s global scale and market reach.

Commenting on the development, Noel N. Tata, Chairman, Tata International Limited, said the partnership opens multi-fold opportunities in global trading. He noted that Tata International’s credibility and global reach, combined with Mercuria’s capabilities, will help build a scalable, high-quality, and compliant trading platform.

Marco Dunand, Chief Executive Officer of Mercuria, highlighted India’s growing strategic importance in global trade, stating that the collaboration creates a strong platform to expand across priority commodities and geographies while leveraging Mercuria’s expertise in trading, technology, and risk management to support market development. The joint venture underscores both companies’ shared focus on responsible growth, strong governance, and building a globally competitive commodities trading franchise.
