59th Garment Buyers & Sellers Meet & B2B Expo Showcases West Bengal’s Apparel Strength

Kolkata: The West Bengal garment industry witnessed a major business convergence with the commencement of the 59th Garment Buyers & Sellers Meet & B2B Expo, being held from 5 to 7 January 2026 at Science City, Kolkata. Spread across nearly two lakh square feet, the three-day expo is organised by the West Bengal Garment Manufacturers and Dealers Association (WBGMDA), a premier industry body with over 61 years of legacy.

Recognised as one of Eastern India’s largest apparel trade platforms, the expo features participation from over 1,000 national and international brands, showcasing an extensive range of readymade garments for men, women, and children. The event is projected to generate wholesale business transactions worth approximately ₹1,500 crore, reinforcing West Bengal’s growing influence in India’s garment and textile trade.

The inauguration was attended by senior government representatives, industry leaders, and prominent business figures, highlighting the event’s economic significance for the state. The expo was inaugurated by Sri Sujit Bose, Minister of State for Fire, Government of West Bengal; Sri Atin Ghosh, Deputy Mayor of Kolkata; and Smt Rehana Khatun, Councillor and Borough Coordinator, along with senior office-bearers of WBGMDA, including Sri Hari Kishan Rathi, President; Sri Vijay Kariwala, Senior Vice President; Sri Pradeep Murarka, Vice President; Sri Devendra Baid, Honorary Secretary; and Sri Manish Agarwal, Executive Committee Member, among others.

Addressing the gathering, Sri Hari Kishan Rathi, President, WBGMDA, said, “The 59th Garment Buyers & Sellers Meet & B2B Expo stands as a reflection of the strength, resilience, and expanding global relevance of West Bengal’s garment industry. WBGMDA has consistently worked towards creating robust business platforms that connect manufacturers, traders, and buyers from across India and overseas. With participation from more than 1,000 brands, this year’s expo further strengthens Kolkata’s position as a key apparel sourcing hub while contributing meaningfully to employment generation and the state’s economic growth.”

Speaking to the media, Sri Devendra Baid, Honorary Secretary, WBGMDA, stated, “With the 59th edition, our focus is to move beyond conventional B2B formats by integrating both wholesale and retail segments into a unified ecosystem. Spread across nearly two lakh square feet, the expo offers unparalleled opportunities for networking, innovation, and large-scale commercial engagement.
