Gujarat: The India–Mauritius Summit 2025 marked a significant milestone in international trade cooperation, bringing together global leaders, policymakers, and industry stakeholders to strengthen economic partnerships among India, Mauritius, and the African continent. Organised under the leadership of the India Africa Trade Council – Mauritius, the summit reinforced Mauritius’ growing role as a strategic gateway for Indian enterprises seeking expansion across Africa.

The summit was led by Mr. Sangeet Sejpal, Honorary Trade Commissioner, India Africa Trade Council – Mauritius, whose leadership highlighted the next phase of structured, policy-aligned, and opportunity-driven global trade. Addressing delegates from multiple countries, Mr. Sejpal emphasised the need for decisive trade frameworks that enable businesses to scale internationally with confidence, regulatory clarity, and long-term sustainability.

A key highlight of the summit was the address by Mookhesswur Choonee, Former High Commissioner of Mauritius and Advisor to the Prime Minister of Mauritius. He shared insights on diplomatic cooperation, policy coordination, and Mauritius’ evolving role in strengthening India–Africa trade and investment linkages.

The summit also featured Dr. Asif Iqbal, President of the International Economic Trade Organization (IETO), who spoke on the importance of multilateral economic collaboration, innovation-led trade models, and institutional partnerships in supporting sustainable growth across emerging markets.

In his address, Mr. Sejpal noted that Mauritius is uniquely positioned at the crossroads of global trade, offering a stable regulatory environment, investor-friendly policies, and access to more than 50 African markets through established trade agreements. He reiterated that the objective of the summit extended beyond dialogue, focusing instead on delivering actionable execution pathways for Indian MSMEs, exporters, and investors looking to establish and scale operations in Africa.
