Gurugram : Nissan Motor India has announced GRAVITE as the name of its upcoming seven-seater B-MPV, which is scheduled to be launched in early 2026. The model will be the first new product under the company’s refreshed India strategy, marking a key step in Nissan’s efforts to regain momentum in the country’s mass-market passenger vehicle segment.
The GRAVITE was first announced in July 2024 as part of Nissan Motor India’s multi-year product roadmap. The launch will be followed by the introduction of the Tekton in mid-2026 and a seven-seater C-SUV in early 2027, indicating a phased expansion across multiple high-volume segments.
Positioned as a family-oriented MPV, the GRAVITE will focus on space efficiency, modular seating and value-led features, aimed at Indian households seeking versatility and cost-conscious ownership. The vehicle will be manufactured locally at Renault’s Chennai facility, reinforcing India’s role in Nissan’s domestic and export strategy.
From a design standpoint, the GRAVITE aligns with Nissan’s global styling cues, including the brand’s signature C-shaped front fascia. The company said the model will carry distinctive hood and rear-door badging to establish a clear identity within the competitive B-MPV segment.
Commenting on the development, Massimiliano Messina, Chairperson, Nissan AMIEO, said India continues to be a key contributor to the region’s performance and remains central to the Alliance’s long-term growth plans. He added that new models developed for India would also support exports to international markets.
Saurabh Vatsa, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India, said the GRAVITE reflects the company’s renewed focus on the Indian market and represents an important milestone in its ongoing transformation. He added that Nissan is aligning its future portfolio closely with evolving consumer preferences.
To support its product push, Nissan is accelerating the expansion of its dealer network across Tier I and Tier II cities, aiming to improve reach and customer experience. The company also highlighted the continued global traction of the Nissan Magnite, which is manufactured in India and exported to over 65 markets. Nissan’s upcoming portfolio, including the Tekton and the newly named GRAVITE, signals a calibrated attempt to rebuild scale in India through locally produced, segment-relevant models.
