Mumbai: She is enigmatic, she is elegant, she is fierce—SHE IS A KILLER! Meet Mrs Deshpande, a character with layers beyond the surface. JioHotstar has revealed the premiere date for its highly anticipated thriller featuring Madhuri Dixit in the lead role, portraying the intriguing Mrs. Deshpande. This December 19, 2025, Bollywood’s dhak-dhak girl will step away from the glamour to unveil a bold and unpredictable persona.

The chilling teaser gives the audience an unsettling glimpse into the world of Mrs. Deshpande, where Madhuri Dixit in a stark, de-glam avatar, is quietly cutting vegetables while a radio bulletin discusses a serial killer on the loose. Directed by Nagesh Kukunoor, the series builds its tension with remarkable restraint and precision, crafting a narrative that lingers long after it ends. Produced by Applause Entertainment in association with Kukunoor Movies, the show is adapted from the original French thriller La Mante, produced by Jean Nainchric. It will also star Siddharth Chandekar and Priyanshu Chatterjee in key roles.

Director Nagesh Kukunoor said, “Mrs. Deshpande has been a truly fascinating and enjoyable journey for me. As I worked on the script, I saw only Madhuri in the title role and to have her play this complex character was an absolute joy. The deglamorized look is just the beginning as her character constantly keeps the audience second-guessing the secrets that she hides behind the million-watt smile. This character is a significant departure from anything the audience has ever seen her do and I guarantee that they will be blown away by her nuanced performance.”

Madhuri Dixit added, “Mrs. Deshpande is unlike anything I’ve stepped into before. It’s raw, unfiltered, and strips away the glamour audiences usually associate with me. She is the most complex character I’ve ever played—you constantly feel like you know her, till you don’t. Playing a character with so many shades of grey has been both exciting and nerve-wracking! I’m eager for the audiences to see this thrilling, new side of me.”

Mrs. Deshpande is a gripping exploration of identity and hidden truths—the story of a woman who appears ordinary, but whose silence hints at something far more unsettling.
