Gandhinagar: The Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) successfully organized the “National Mobility Awards and Summit–2025” at GIFT City, Gandhinagar. The event, themed “Accelerating Future Mobility: Green, Integrated and Digitally Driven,” showcased Gujarat’s prominent role in India’s transportation sector. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel and the guidance of Minister of State for Transport Shri Harsh Sanghavi, the one-day summit fostered in-depth discussions aimed at tackling future challenges and exploring new opportunities in mobility.

Shri R.C. Meena, Principal Secretary of the Ports and Transport Department for the Government of Gujarat, announced that the GSRTC safely transports more than 2.7 million passengers daily throughout the state. Alongside ensuring dependable connectivity, the organization has prioritized environmental sustainability, propelling Gujarat forward in its pursuit of eco-friendly transportation through initiatives like electric and CNG buses.

On this occasion, Shri M. Nagarajan, Managing Director of the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC), stated that today’s public transport passengers prioritize comfort, safety, and seamless multimodal connectivity. The State Transport Corporation is wholly dedicated to meeting these expectations. Additionally, the summit delved into forward-thinking models, such as asset monetization and generating non-fare revenue.

 

The standout moment of the summit was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between GSRTC and the State Bank of India (SBI). This agreement focuses on improving financial stability and promoting innovation in public transport. An SBI representative mentioned that the bank’s green financing has already surpassed ₹63,000 crore, and this partnership with GSRTC will further advance sustainable transportation across India.

 

The summit saw the launch of a special edition of E-Governance Magazine highlighting GSRTC and Gujarat’s green transport initiatives. It brought together leading companies, including Tata Motors, Charge Zone, JSL, AMNEX, and SBI. The National Mobility Awards–2025 were also awarded to organisations for their outstanding contributions to public and private transport.

 

The summit featured in-depth discussions on EV charging infrastructure, digital ticketing, AI-based fleet management, safety, and non-fare revenue. Notably, GSRTC is committed to providing citizen-centric, eco-friendly, and digitally empowered transport services. The summit further reinforced Gujarat’s resolve to lead India’s green and integrated mobility revolution.
