Over 2,000 Runners Participate in Kargil Vijay Diwas Run, Uniting Civilians and Soldiers for the Victory Celebration.

Gandhinagar:  Gandhinagar Military Station showcased an inspiring display of patriotism and unity, as over 2,000 participants joined the Kargil Vijay Diwas Run, sponsored by the Chiripal Group. The Chief Guest for this momentous occasion was Major General Gaurav Bagga, GOC 11 Rapid. Held on the 26th anniversary of India’s triumph in the 1999 Kargil War, the event celebrated the bravery and sacrifices made by the nation’s armed forces.

 

The event included two categories: a 10 km race that commenced at 6:00 a.m. and a 5 km race that began at 6:30 a.m. Both races started and ended within the scenic military base. Participants included civilians, armed forces members, veterans, and students, all running together along a beautiful route adorned with Indian Army insignia and enriched by the presence of vibrant flora and fauna, such as peacocks and Nilgai.

 

Brigadier Rajesh Kumar, Brigade Commander, 85 Brigade, Gandhinagar, said, “The overwhelming participation in today’s run is a testament to the nation’s unwavering respect for our Kargil heroes. The Kargil Vijay Diwas Run is more than a sporting event—it’s a heartfelt tribute to the courage and sacrifice of our soldiers. We thank all the partners who made this day memorable. Today’s participation reflects the deep love and respect of the people of Gujarat for the bravery of our armed forces in times of crisis.

 

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who participated in large numbers for the Kargil Vijay Diwas Victory Run. This event has successfully united communities, fostering a spirit of togetherness and national pride.

Chiripal Group’s Radio Mirchi served as the radio partner for the event, while DD News and DD Girnar acted as news partners, and Cyruns provided technical advisory support. Medical teams, hydration points, and ambulance services were deployed along the route to ensure the safety of all participants.
