In a landmark moment for India’s maritime sector, Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister, virtually inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for several transformational projects of Deendayal Port Authority (DPA), Kandla, worth over ₹1,100 crores, during a grand event held at Bhuj, Kutch on 26th May, 2025.
Recognized as one of the three major ports designated as a “Green Hydrogen Hub” under the National Green Hydrogen Mission, DPA is rapidly becoming a symbol of clean energy adoption, infrastructure advancement, and regional economic development. This aligns perfectly with the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047.
Projects Valued at ₹532 Crore Inaugurated:
- Oil Jetty No. 8 at Old Kandla
With an impressive capacity of 3.5 MMT per annum, this newly inaugurated jetty features telescopic gangways, locally developed quick-release mooring systems, and an automated firefighting system. These enhancements ensure the safe handling of large liquid cargo vessels up to 1 lakh DWT. - Connectivity to Container Terminal at Tuna-Tekra
This improvement aims to boost the efficiency of container traffic. - Expansion of Port Area for EXIM Cargo Storage
This initiative supports faster cargo evacuation. - Additional development initiatives are underway to strengthen port operations, improve community infrastructure, and create job opportunities.
- 10 MW Green Hydrogen Production Facility at Kandla
- This initiative aims to promote clean energy and position DPA as a rising leader in the Green Hydrogen industry.
- Construction of 3 Road Over Bridges & Upgrade to 6-Lane at Kandla
- This project aims to modernize port logistics and improve connectivity between the city and the port.
