Ahmedabad: The announcement of the CBSE Class 10 and 12 board examination results for 2025 marks not just the end of an academic cycle but also a reflection of a system in transition—one that is slowly embracing holistic education over rote performance. As an educator with over 18 years of experience working closely with students, teachers, and parents, I view these results through the lens of learning, effort, and emerging trends.

This year, the Class 10 pass percentage reached 93.66%, reflecting last year’s results with a slight improvement. Notably, the academic achievement of girls continues to shine, as they outperformed boys with an impressive 95% pass rate.

Areas such as Trivandrum, Vijayawada, and Bengaluru maintain impressive pass rates nearing or exceeding 99%. These regions exemplify robust educational systems, active parental involvement, and a culture that prioritizes learning rather than merely performance. Numerous Class 10 students attained a perfect score, achieving an exceptional 100% result — a remarkable and commendable academic accomplishment.

In Class 12, the pass percentage saw a slight increase, reaching 88.39%. Girls once again outperformed boys by nearly 6 percentage points. More than 115,000 students achieved scores above 90%, and close to 24,000 students surpassed the 95% mark.

However, as an educator, I do urge caution. High marks, while commendable, should not become the sole benchmark of a student’s worth. We must ask: Are our students learning how to learn? Are they ready for life, not just for exams?

Every score tells a story of a student — some filled with joy, others with disappointment. The percentage results do not capture the grit, personal challenges, or the development of values and skills. Numerous students faced quiet struggles with anxiety, health issues, or personal loss, yet they persevered and gave their all. I am particularly encouraged by the 100% pass rate among transgender students in Class 12 this year — a significant moment of pride and inclusivity.

Redefining Success in Education as India Embraces the National Education Policy (NEP). As India moves towards achieving the objectives set forth in the National Education Policy (NEP), it is essential to rethink our concept of success. The CBSE’s emphasis on competency-based learning is a positive step forward. However, to genuinely benefit students, this initiative must be complemented by:

  • Teacher training
  • Emotional resilience programs
  • Career guidance
  • Parental awareness

The next generation of learners should not only excel at solving quadratic equations but also possess the skills to tackle real-life challenges, adapt to change, and remain grounded. Congratulations to all students who have passed! For those who didn’t, remember that this is not the end; it’s merely a comma in your journey. As an educator, I firmly believe that every student possesses unique potential. Our responsibility is to nurture the spark of learning, no matter the outcome.
